Hello, I am Mimoza, a masters-level therapist at ACMH. I obtained my Masters degree in clinical psychology at the University of Pristina, Kosovo, and completed my clinical psychology and psychotherapy residency program at the Ministry of Health. I received my license as Specialist Clinical Psychologist in Kosovo, in 2017. My goal is to register as a Psychological Associate with the College of Psychologists of Ontario, and I am currently working under the supervision of Dr. Arela Agako.
My experience in the clinical field is wide-ranging and includes treatment, assessment, consultation, supervision, mentoring, and program development in different settings such as the Ministry of Health, my personal practice, Clinical and University Centre of Kosovo, Centers for Social Works, Kosova Women’s Network, and some other organization including National Association for Autism in Kosovo, where I am one of the founders.
I am proud to say that I was part of the first generation of psychology graduates in Kosovo, as well as in the first generation of specialists in the Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy program, a three-year residency program implemented by the University of Basel in collaboration with the Ministry of Health in Kosovo.
My work spans at length and delves into various realms of mental health with work performed in various settings, with people of different ages and walks of life. Having partaken in a very competitive and highly qualified university and residency program made me comprehend the need to further develop my capacities and do my utmost through an integrative approach in an attempt to alleviate issues arising from mental health. I believe I have done so through my private practice where I served as a psychologist for several years, providing a breadth of evidence-based treatment approaches with emphasis on humanistic/existential, psychodynamic, and cognitive-behavioral therapy, to clients struggling with anxiety, depression, PTSD, substance abuse, family problems, as well as to people looking for couples therapy and those aiming their own personal growth.
In addition to working directly with patients, I devote a considerable portion of my time to the Committee of the Clinical Psychology Residency program, and also provide supervision and personal therapy to the residents of the program, where they have the opportunity to benefit from the guidance and support of a more experienced professional.
